Roosters centre Latrell Mitchell has been penalised for a dangerous charge on Shark Josh Dyugan during Saturday night’s qualifying final.

The match review committee handed Mitchell a grade one dangerous contact charge with a base penalty of 100 points, and should he accept an early plea, will receive 90 points.

However, due to 75 carry-over points, Mitchell would miss his side’s preliminary final clash.

Should the club decide to challenge the charge and be unsuccessful, he would receive 125 points and miss the do-or-die contest.

Therefore, Mitchell’s only chance of playing in the preliminary final is if he successfully challenges.

The club has until 12pm Monday to decide whether or not to enter a plea.

  1. If he gets off then the NRL should change the ruling that a suspension can only be enforced as a result of a broken neck.

  2. I still believe this easts player is innocent. If it was dangerous then they would of made the grading higher, but they didn’t. They gave him a low grading, with an early guilty plea, he would of avoided a suspension. However previous carry over points here is the issue. As far as the match review committee were concerned, it did not warrant a suspension. Hence the grading of 100 points and 90 for early guilty plea. The side on view of the ch9 coverage clearly shows Dugan hit his head on Mitchell knee and then the ground it was not a crusher tackle. Meanwhile I am pleased Mitchell is pleading not guilty and justice should prevail with an exoneration on Tuesday night. By the way, I am not Brian Fletcher, Woodchicken or any other aka nobody. I am a Souths Sydney fan who loves Rugby League and when we thrash Saints this week I want easts to have their full strength team with Mitchell, so the victory will be even more sweater

    • Mitchell will get off because the bloke didn’t do a crusher. Dugan is an actor, he got the penalty and after the cameras went off him he was never seen again on TV during the rest of the game rubbing his neck or stretching or rotating his head. If the sook had any decency he would make a statement to the judiciary admitting he played it up to win a penalty. In the heat of battle lots of players milk penalties many try to make out they were interfered with when attempting to stop a try with players running into them and they fall over and win a penalty. Grubs like Dugan milk penalties and get players suspended with his exaggerated actions. how does this bloke sleep at night. ❓❓❓❓❓❓❓❓❓❓❓❓❓❓❓❓❓❓❓❓

  3. If it was dangerous he would of copped a grade 3 or 2, it wasn’t dangerous and was correctly given a grade 1. Which dose not warrant a suspension. Unfortunately Latrell Mitchell has been suspended for a week due to carry over points and is guilty of a charge that is only worthy of a slap on the wrist. 100 points and 90 for a early guilty plea means the charge normally carries no suspension. Thank you Mr Dugan, If they see you in the grand Final then you had better look out for Napa, He has been practicing his new tackling technique. You are on his “Hit List” to be snapped in half.👊😎👊. Also Mr Dugan Latrell like Napa needed to rest up for the Big One.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
