The Wests Tigers and Dolphins have completed their pre-seasons with wins on Friday evening, while the Penrith Panthers and New Zealand Warriors will head into the season proper on the back of losses.
The four sides all showed plenty during the double-header at Leichhardt, but there will be plenty of questions and talking points to be answered over the fortnight leading into their respective Round 1 encounters.
The Tigers have an even longer wait with the Round 1 bye.
Here are all the talking points from Friday evening's action at Leichhardt.
3. How do the Warriors fit Taine Tuaupiki in?
Taine Tuaupiki is not Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad, let's make that point clear.
But he brings things to the Warriors' game that Nicoll-Klokstad doesn't, and has done more than enough to be in contention for a spot in the team somewhere.
The bottom line is the Warriors have a serious backline crunch.
Nicoll-Klokstad and Tuaupiki at centre, with the one not playing there in the mix for a spot in the centres or on the wing respectively.
Then there is Roger Tuivasa-Sheck who is a walk-up starter, the experience of Dallin Watene-Zelezniak, who frankly could be a surprise omission, youngster Ali Leiataua, recruit Aflofiana Khan-Pereira, Adam Pompey and Rocco Berry.
Tuaupiki, at best, might land a bench spot, but Andrew Webster has a huge call to make.
