St George Illawarra star Jack de Belin will challenge his NRL ban in federal court on Thursday, after NRL CEO Todd Greenberg last week stood de Belin down under the league's new policy.

According to Nine News Sydney, De Belin is also set to take out an injunction against the NRL.

  1. OK give the CLOWN 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡 (like this ManWar69er when clown calling) another 12 months for bringing the NRL into disrepute. Just because a person is so blind drunk and cannot remember what they did doesn’t make a person innocent. I wonder if De Belin was in that astro traveling state of mind. Any way rumor has it he hired Brett Stewarts defence lawman. 🐇🥄

  2. Just a waste of money, the NRL are well within their right to stand down any player facing Criminal charges.
Innocent until proven Guilty is a legal term in a court of law, not a footballing term.

The facts are that he brought the game into disrepute and deserves to be stood down regardless of whether he is cleared of these charges or goes to gaol.

  3. The NRL can do as they pls.If he is proven innocent i think they may be in a bit of bother than.In saying that i think you may find somewhere in the contracts signed there would be certain clauses and if not id imagine will now in future contracts

  4. Let him challenge it. What grounds. Still earning his income, won’t play for Meninga, Freddie has come out in disgust, so there will be no rep footy for him. And it’s up to the NRL who they let play their game.
Dragons couldn’t possibly be so dumb to put him back in the side against the guys who pay their bills wishes. (Only the sharks are that dumb)

  5. What clause needed, he is on full pay, and rep sides are picked at will. Nothing guaranteed in the Blues this year.

  6. Jack, time to take some responsibility for your actions. Keep training, let justice take it’s path. If you are innocent, then you will be back playing in a couple of months. For me, the worst thing the Dragons could do would be to support this legal challenge. The Dragons should have stood him down months ago and shown some leadership and ethics.

  7. Nice one. May I ask is there a clown emoji protocol that stipulates how many clowns should be displayed when using your clown calling ticket?

  8. Unless they have SOLID evidence he committed a crime, innocent until guilty bruv. F*** that, you’ll have girls crying wolf left right and center.

  9. But all the comments above look to assume/factor in some degree of guilt.
What if he’s not? What if he did absolutely nothing wrong, nothing?
Has anyone thought, why would JDB employ lawyers to fight this “suspension”, when at the end of the day he remains on full pay, and could (could) be facing deregistration, if (if) found guilty?
You could argue it’s not him fighting the case, it’s the Dragons, and they do have something to gain etc etc etc. I’m not arguing that, and I’m not taking anyone’s side in this case, BUT too many people seem to have already formed an opinion, based on nothing but media reports and/or their own assumptions.
    What IF you’re all wrong?

  10. Yes there is ManWar78 fellow Clown Caller tradesman man. The simple formula is the bigger the foolish clown, the more omoji’s that is required. Good luck fellow Clown Spoter💪🐔👍

  11. Your correct eelsalmighty. The Dingo case at Ayres Rock in 1980 is a classic example of mob mentality.

It wouldn’t surprise me that the RL Players Association could be funding the expenses in this historical pioneer Federal court hearing tomorrow on behalf of all players to be allowed to play in all future cases were the new stand down law applies.

I can’t see De Belin winning as bad publicity drags the NRL product into the gutter resulting in less profit through sponsorship and future TV rights with less fans interested in the sport.🎱 The court should rule that a business has the right to have a squeaky clean reputation to entice other business. If it was any other company the worker would be stood down. Only time will tell but I don’t like DeB elins chances in playing while this publicity is ruining the sport.

  12. In my view, he has no chance and this will be just what the NRL wants. Ratification of their approach by the courts puts them in a very powerful position.

  13. What happened to Brett Stewart should a salutary reminder of not jumping to conclusions. The poor bloke was basically set up and according to reports has never fully recovered from having his name dragged through the mud. Roy Masters’ recent article in the SMH was also interesting – with victims’ rights lobby groups so strong and vocal these days, the police and the DPP basically just charge the accused and leave it to the courts to decide whereas formerly they wouldn’t prosecute unless they thought there was a reasonable prospect of a conviction. The trial over David Hookes’ death (even though in Victoria) was a good example of this – the Victorian DPP initially didn’t want to prosecute but bowed to public pressure; and we all know that turned out. We don’t know De Belin’s side of the story except that he’s pleaded not guilty. The NRL will look like a goose if it’s Snake all over again.

  14. He obviously feels he is innocent and will be proven so and he would know. The way he has been denied the presumption of innocence by the NRL is disgraceful! He should sue them for all they are worth.

  15. Unless he is playing a very clever game to try and convince everyone that he is innocent.

The man doth protest too much.

  16. Its about time Jack started thinking about the game before himself.
Trouble is watching Paul Kent and Ben Ikin on 360 last night it was like they were trying to defend the actions of the Boys in trouble.
Saying that Rugby League Players need to be not so civilized to play the game. Then it seemed like Kent was trying to bait Luke Lewis into Dobbing in someone else…
    Worst Journo ever

  17. Dude he got himself into a situation where he can be accused!!!! So do the right thing stand down for the good off the game your team mates and the image off the game that pays your wage ……. innocent you get vilified if not well ….,,

  18. Whether De Belin is right or wrong in challenging his right to play?
The NRL hierarchy will make him pay. They just want everyone & every team to be good little boys & do exactly what they’re told.
That’s why St.George quickly backflipped on their backing of De Belin & his legal challenges.
If the club had kept backing him, they would have found themselves suddenly , miraculously being the most penalised team in the first grade competition in 2019. No close decisions would go their way either.
How they get at an individual who challenges their decisions is another thing? Maybe not being chosen in any rep teams in the future , or something along those lines?
Looks like the Panthers are going to hang onto the most penalised team in the competition honour again in 2019. Just like in 2018. Especially if the Eels trial is something to go by.
