Manly's halfback Kane Elgey has retired from the NRL aged 25 after falling out of love with the game.
Elgey still had a year to run on his contract but decided the time was right to walk away.
"After months of consideration I have decided to officially retire from the NRL and move back home," Elgey wrote on his Instagram account.
"I just know deep down I don't love it like I use (sic) to and when you lose that it's very hard to keep doing it at a high level."
He debuted for the Gold Coast Titans in 2015 and went onto play 46 games for the club over four injury riddled seasons before receiving a career lifeline for Manly.
At Manly, Elgey only managed 11 appearances as he fell behind the likes of Dylan Walker and Cade Cust to pair in the halves with captain Daly Cherry-Evans.
Good news for manly really.
Walker is 5/8. Also have Crocker and Cust.
Means we can promote a junior to top 30 and also save around 200k next season to help resign walker and the turbos.

Its sad. He had so much potential. Manly were desperately chasing him not so long ago when DCE and Foran were heading out the door and he just had his break out year.
