The Newcastle Knights have denied speculation about the club being linked to South Sydney's hooker Damien Cook for 2020.

Reports told that the Knights recruitment drive could also see them try to sign the Origin player, as his current deal ending at the end of next season.

Troy Pezet, Knights list manager, has come out and declined the reports and said that they will not be making a play for him.

“I can categorically say there is absolutely no truth to the reports linking us to Damien Cook,” Pezet told The Newcastle Herald.

“Where they have come from I’m not too sure but they are not right.”

With Danny Levi, Slade Griffin, Zac Woolford, Jamie Buhrer and youngster Luke Huth, as well as the reports of signing Dragons Utility Kurt Mann and try to turn him into a hooker, the Knights don't really need Cook.
