The Red Devils are interested in former Sea Eagle Jackson Hastings, but are facing competition from fellow Super League clubs.

The club are one of three sides pursuing Hastings, given they need a much-needed injection of funds with their Super League future on the line.

Though Huddersfield rejected offers after growing tired of waiting and are now looking elsewhere, two other Super League clubs yet to be named are closing in on Hastings.

The 22-year-old is now a free agent after being released from NRL side Manly after a turbulent series of events that led to his demotion, including an altercation with captain Dale Cherry-Evans.

Sea Eagles boss Trent Barrett said of the event that concerns have been ongoing.

"This certainly isn’t a one-off incident. We have pretty well documented a lot of things over the past 12 months", he told thesun.co.uk.
