Ahead of the final series, we at Zero Tackle have looked at the most impressive player of 2016 for each NRL team.

Newcastle Knights: Daniel Saifiti

The Fijian international and NRL rookie scored on his debut and never looked back for the Knights.

25 tackles and 116 metres per game (generally off the bench) saw the 20-year-old finish the season as one of the very few shining lights for the Knights in 2016.

Sydney Roosters: Latrell Mitchell

This 19-year-old took the league by storm this season, playing all 24 games on his way to 14 tries in his debut year.

Mitchell led the Chooks in tries, most line breaks and most kick-return metres, and has given all Roosters fans a vote of confidence for the future of the fullback position.

Parramatta Eels: Bevan French

Anytime a rookie scores 19 tries in 13 games, they're going to be one of the most impressive stories to come out of that team.

French scored three hat-tricks including two in the finals two games, to finish off a remarkable season in an otherwise horror year for the Parramatta Eels Rugby League club.

Manly Sea Eagles: Tom Trbojevic

The youngster played in all but one of Manly's games this season, and in doing so showed he's the right man for the number 1 jersey for years to come.

Trbojevic ran 3786 metres this year (fourth in the NRL), and also lead his team in line breaks and tackle breaks.

South Sydney Rabbitohs: Cody Walker

After waiting years and finally making his first-grade debut as a 26-year-old in Round 1, it was better late than never for Souths and Cody Walker.

Walker played in 20 games scoring eight tries and laying on 12 assists, and his brilliant form was rewarded with a new contract to remain with the Bunnies until the end of 2018.

St George Illawarra Dragons: Tyson Frizell

In a season that didn't have many highs for the Dragons, Tyson Frizell was one player that impressed in 2016.

Frizell played in 21 games this season scoring three tries and running for 2009 metres, and his fantastic year was rewarded by a maiden Blues State of Origin jersey.

New Zealand Warriors: Shaun Johnson

10 tries, 18 assists and 15 line breaks saw Shaun Johnson once again lead the Warriors into battle throughout 2016.

Johnson's skilful best is almost untouchable and the number 7 showed a lot of glimpses this season, although the entire New Zealand side was just too inconsistent to make a run at a finals berth.

Wests Tigers: James Tedesco

Arguably one of the best players in the opening 10 rounds, James Tedesco's season ended on a rather sour note.

A broken jaw left the fullback on the sideline for the last three games of the season, but 14 tries, 12 assists and 15 line breaks in 17 games still sees Tedesco pip Mitchell Moses for this award.

Gold Coast Titans: Ryan James

The man who broke Tedesco's jaw, Ryan James, has been ever present in leading the Titans to the most unlikely of finals berths.

James equalled the record for tries by a front-rower in a season with 11, and the inspiring forward will be looking to continue on his rich vein of form in Brisbane on Friday night.

Canterbury Bulldogs: James Graham

The British Bulldog ran for the most metres out of any player in the NRL this season and was at his devastating best in 2016.

James Graham ran the ball 82 more times than the next best runner showcasing his athleticism, and Graham also made the hit-ups and laid the sixth most tackles in the league.

Penrith Panthers: Josh Mansour

The winger was brilliant following the Origin campaign, and at one stage Josh Mansour had a try in six consecutive games.

Along with some of Penrith's other big names this season, Mansour has shown his talent, running for over 100 metres every game this year.

Brisbane Broncos: Anthony Milford

Anthony Milford of the Broncos reacts during the round 13 NRL match between the New Zealand Warriors and the Brisbane Broncos at Mt Smart Stadium on June 4, 2016 in Auckland, New Zealand.

13 tries and 16 try assists to Anthony Milford this season has seen the master five-eighth step his game up once again.

After a dip in form around the Origin period, pre and post representative footy saw Milford at his impressive best and a key member of the Broncos' outfit.

North Queensland Cowboys: Jason Taumalolo

The only other player in the league apart from James Graham to run 4000 metres this season, Jason Taumalolo has been immense this season for the Cowboys.

He's led his team in tackle breaks and line breaks and has featured in every game of the reigning premiers season.

Cronulla Sharks: Andrew Fifita

Despite ending the season in some controversy, there's no denying Andrew Fifita's ability to influence a match of the football field.

Fifita has had four games this season running for 200+ metres and only didn't run 100 metres once in a game, and was a key part of the Sharks' 15-game win streak.

Canberra Raiders: Jarrod Croker

So many Raiders were eligible for this award, but it's hard to go past captain Jarrod Croker.

Croker scored 17 tries and laid on seven assists in another unbelievable season for the centre, and Croker almost outscored the entire Newcastle Knights team by himself. (276-305)

Melbourne Storm: Cooper Cronk

Cooper Cronk of the Storm runs with the ball during the round nine NRL match between the Gold Coast Titans and the Melbourne Storm on May 1, 2016 in Gold Coast, Australia.

11 tries and 23 assists have seen Cooper Cronk play one of his most impressive season's ever, and that's saying something.

Cronk has been everywhere for the Storm this season and it's no surprise they've finished with the minor premiership, and they've got Cronk to thank for a lot of their success.
