Parramatta Eels v Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs

Thursday night, ANZ Stadium

Parramatta will host Canterbury in what will be a crunch match for the Bulldogs, given the position of both teams on the ladder.

The Eels currently occupy the eighth spot on the table with eight wins this season, while the Bulldogs are languishing in 13th with just six victories.

Another loss could see the Dogs fall out of touch with the top eight, although they will be buoyed by the return of Brett Morris on the wing.

It's not all good news for the Bulldogs on the selection front though, with James Graham and Greg Eastwood both missing the clash.

The Eels will be without Beau Scott and Kaysa Pritchard for the rest of the season after the pair succumbed to injuries, but they've welcomed back Cameron King at hooker.

Parramatta has won three of their past four and will look to continue on their winning ways in this one.

Gold Coast Titans v St George Illawarra Dragons

Friday night, Cbus Super Stadium

The Titans have welcomed five-eighth Tyrone Roberts and lock Chris McQueen back into the side, with John Olive and Jamal Fogarty the two to make way.

St George, on the other hand, has placed Euan Aitken in the centres and moved Kurt Mann into the halves, while Jack de Belin returns from suspension at lock.

The only injury for both sides is Paul Vaughan for the Dragons, who have been replaced by Leeson Ah Mau at prop.

St George has struggled to play consistent football over the past month but should get back on track with a win here.

Dragons by 10.

Brisbane Broncos v Melbourne Storm

Friday night, Suncorp Stadium

Melbourne's Origin quartet returns to the starting line-up on Friday night, with Billy Slater, Cameron Smith, Cooper Cronk and Will Chambers all fit to play after having the week off.

Kenny Bromwich, Brandon Smith and Jahrome Hughes make way for the stars, with Origin 2 debutant Tim Glasby reinstated to the starting 13.

Korbin Sims returns to prop for the Broncos, with Herman Ese'ese moving to the bench and Joe Ofahengaue back on the reserves.

Brisbane is the most in-form team in the competition having won eight of their past 10 games, and this one is certain to be a classic.

Broncos by 3.

Sydney Roosters v Cronulla Sharks

Saturday afternoon, Central Coast Stadium

The Roosters have named the same 1-17 that beat the ladder-leading Storm in Golden Point last weekend, meaning Origin star Boyd Cordner will remain on the sidelines with a calf problem.

The Sharks have named Fa'amanu Brown at hooker to replace Jayden Brailey, and have also selected Joseph Paulo on the bench in favour of Daniel Mortimer.

Matt Prior has returned to the starting lineup with Jayson Bukuya moving back to the bench.

This contest is set to be a beauty, although a fantastic win from the Roosters last week could give them the confidence to knock off last year's premiers.

Roosters by 4.

Manly Sea Eagles v New Zealand Warriors

Saturday evening, nib Stadium

Manly take a home game to Perth following their best win of the season against Warriors side coming off two straight victories themselves.

The Sea Eagles have had a less than stellar season thus far at Lotto Land, and need a win here to remain in the competition's top four.

Both side's stars are firing, with a mouth water clash between Daly Cherry-Evans and Shaun Johnson headlining a list of clashes. Tommy Turbo vs Roger Tuivasa-Sheck is just another. This could be the match of the weekend.

The Warriors will be sans Isaac Luke after he suffered an injury, but otherwise, it's a strong Warriors side who looks to land their third win in a row.

Manly have found a level of consistency over the past month and look set to continue their four-game win streak in front of a big (hopefully) Perth crowd.

Canberra Raiders v North Queensland Cowboys

Saturday night, GIO Stadium

The Raiders have now entered desperate times, after yet another loss on their own turf. Brisbane, with plenty of players backing up from Origin, with their two top attacking weapons sitting in the stands, did the job in the capital.

Canberra now sits two wins outside of the finals spots, and a loss here would see them fall four wins behind the Cowboys, in seventh.

The list of Canberra players not living up to expectations is almost as long as another famous list from Stuart's time in charge of the Eels, and if he cannot turn his side's fortunes around quickly, they face an early exit, again much like Stuart's time at the Eels.

As for the Cowboys, they found a way to win without their master halfback, something they're going to have to master as Thurston was ruled out for the season.

The 'other JT' Jason Taumalolo is again proving why is the game's most damaging forward after leading the way against the Panthers.

The Raiders have it all to lose on Saturday night. Simply put, they can't afford to lose.

Raiders by 10.

Newcastle Knights v Wests Tigers

Sunday afternoon, McDonald Jones Stadium

I'm surprisingly excited about a contest that could produce a stack of points, or degenerate into an NRL-style blooper reel.

The Knights had their moments last Sunday afternoon and probably should have beaten the Dragons. The Tigers were brave, but fairly comprehensively outplayed by the Titans.

Both sides are desperate to avoid the wooden spoon and are competing with each other off the field to sign players, such as Connor Watson.

Both are very proud clubs with equally as proud fans. Anyone who thinks there won't be a little bit of feeling in this one is set to be proven wrong.

James Tedesco returns for the Tigers, giving them a massive boost. Excitement machine the 'Ross Dog' moves to fullback, bringing him more involvement.

Tough to pick a winner here, but Newcastle, at home, showed more fight last weekend and should take the points.

Knights by 7.

South Sydney Rabbitohs v Penrith Panthers

Sunday afternoon, ANZ Stadium

The Panthers would have spent the past few days wondering how they did not leave 1300 Smiles Stadium without two competition points.

Matt Moylan and Nathan Cleary have this side humming, while Josh Mansour's return has provided massive dividends.

South Sydney are coming off a bye following their encouraging win over the Titans two weeks ago. They have it all to play for, and a win will see them join the Panthers on 16 competition points.

A loss here and the Bunnies are all but out of the finals race. A six point gap looks like a bridge too far for the red and greens, if they fail to beat the Panthers.

The Panthers have a brilliant forward pack, clever halves and weapons in the outside backs. It's hard to see them letting this opportunity slip.

Panthers by 14.
