Gold Coast Culture boss Mal Meninga has noted David Fifita's name as one of the key targets the Titans will likely chase this off-season.

The Kangaroos coach has spent two weeks with the off-contract Bronco who was within the Australian camp for their World Cup 9's and Junior Kangaroos squad.

The 19-year-old suffered a broken eye socket, ruling him out of a chance to play a senior test against Tonga.

Meninga has publicly revealed that the Titans will be after a number of big-name targets in the off-season as the club looks to move from the bottom of the ladder, and Fifita is a leading name on their list.

“We’ve got to be in the market for players like that,” Meninga told The Gold Coast Bulletin.

“But we’ve got to get ourselves in a position to realistically have a crack at him and players of his ilk.

“We’ve got a lot of cap management to go through. We’ve got to be patient, back our nerve, trust the market and see what happens.

“There is no doubt he’d be a player of great influence on the club.

“I’ve worked with him the last few weeks and he’s an extraordinary talent for someone so young. His better years are in front of us.

“If we can get ourselves into a position, from a cap point of view, to ask the question then why not?”

However, the Titans may struggle to lure Fifita down to the coast as the bullish Brisbane star is expected to cost over $1 million per season.
