Wests Tigers can confirm that Josh Drinkwater has been granted an immediate release from his contract with the Club.

Drinkwater, who was contracted with Wests Tigers for the remainder of this season, will take up an opportunity in England with Leigh Centurions in the Kingstone Press Championship.

The 23-year-old halfback played one NRL game for the Club in Round 17 last year against Parramatta at ANZ Stadium.

  1. I would not have thought that Leigh was appropriate for Drinkwater. Pretty low standard in some of those championship sides with many of them part timers.

  2. Went to school with him at Terrigal high. His brother was in my year, nice guy wish him all the best with his career.

    • Drinkwater that is with the storm and played Australian school boys last year right? If so I’ve heard the world of him, how humble he is and how much of leader he is, next Cronk would you agree?

      • Played for Manly before signing with West Tigers. Didn’t get much first grade as Mitchell Moses is the favourite for the spot. Drinkwater has a future and am glade to see him returning to first grade in England. Drinkwater would have been a good option if Moses doesn’t want to continue playing in tigers colours. Also of note, Josh’s brother Brad is another talented player to watch.
