The Vodafone Warriors have confirmed centre Konrad Hurrell has today been released from his contract.

The 24-year-old Hurrell, who was contracted to the end of the 2018 season, leaves the club after making 71 NRL appearances since his debut in 2012.

“After discussions between Konrad, his management (Inventus Sports) and us we’ve reached a mutual agreement for him to be released now,” said Vodafone Warriors managing director Jim Doyle.

“We would like to thank Konrad for his contribution since coming into our development system. He has been a popular member of the club and we wish him all the best for the future.”

Hurrell said he had mixed emotions at first about leaving the Vodafone Warriors but was now excited as he looked forward to the rest of his career.

“I will always be thankful to the Vodafone Warriors for all they have done for me and the way they have helped me develop as a rugby league player,” he said.

“I’m grateful to all the boys I have played alongside, all the people at the club and also the members and fans.”

  1. Could anybody explain – NZ Warriors or Vodafone Warriors? I understand Vodafone is a major sponsor but geez didn’t think it too the name.

  2. Titans rumours were around couple of months back but I don’t understand if we have signed him considering we picked up Dan Sarginson for 2017 and Davis, Mcdonald and Hoffman have been going well in the centres this year.

  3. He will be off to the superleague I think doesn’t have the mental fortitude to cut it at a team like Melbourne

  4. Rumour is he’s off to Hull KR but it’s a shame to see him leave the nrl if he stays it will be to Knights or Titans

  5. Warriors need to sign a great leader (prop) or a great half (Hampton,Norman) and put tui in the centres

    • Tui is not a centre what so ever
He’s a five eighth and it’d be stupid to have him and not put him there

  6. Very good move by the warriors, he was on about 450k a year from all reports. If I were the warriors I’d be putting that into kane Linnett or justin O’Neil, Linnett would be more realistic.

  7. If we got linnett, then we should let wrights contract run out then move Allwood and Ayshford on? I really think Fusitua should be a center, I mean he has the frame for it. Looked good at fullback on defence?

  8. Then put henare wells on the wing, genuine speedster with hieght can he catch the high ball?
