Wakefield have continued to revamp their squad by signing hooker Paul Aiton on a two-year contract.
The Papua New Guinea international, 26, has played 39 times for his country and captained the side during the 2010 Four Nations tournament.
He has played in the NRL with the Penrith Panthers and, more recently, Cronulla Sharks.
Aiton said: “I had certain goals that I wanted to achieve in the NRL and I’ve achieved those.
“Another goal of mine is to play in the Super League.
“There were a couple of clubs interested but I met with (coach) Richard Agar when he was in Australia and from the way he spoke about the club I wanted to be part of the rebuilding.”
The deal is subject to a successful visa application.
