Semi Radradra

Some fantastic try scorers have been unleashed in the last decade of rugby league, but the last two or three seasons we have seen some of the best make their mark on the NRL.

We have listed the top try scoring rates per game below. The requirements to make our list included players currently in the NRL who have a minimum rate of 0.50 (one try every two games) and a minimum of 20 tries.

Tries Games Rate
Alex Johnston 21 19 1.11
Semi Radradra 28 33 0.85
Akuila Uate 99 132 0.75
Brett Stewart 152 206 0.74
Manu Vatuvei 137 198 0.69
Brett Morris 117 175 0.67
Konrad Hurrell 37 57 0.65
Ben Barba 80 125 0.64
Michael Jennings 111 173 0.64
Matt Duffie 33 53 0.62
Billy Slater 171 276 0.62
Greg Inglis 126 206 0.61
Sisa Waqa 45 78 0.58
Shaun Kenny-Dowall 98 180 0.54
Pat Richards 53 98 0.54
Will Hopoate 49 98 0.50
Josh Morris 89 177 0.50
Peta Hiku 21 43 0.49

When you see those statistics in front of you it shows just how spectacular the rise of Alex Johnston and Semi Radradra as try scoring freaks.

To put these rates into context, Israel Folau (0.79 – 73 tries in 92 games) and Jarryd Hayne (0.59 – 103 tries in 176 games) wouldn’t top the list either.

Now we’re not going to pretend that anyone can keep those kinds of rates up over a number of years so it will be interesting to see how AJ and Semi fare in 5-6 years.

But credit to Akuila Uate. He’s been touted as out of form for the last year or so yet he still has an incredible try scoring rate of 0.75 tries per game.

So does any of that surprise you? Have we missed anyone? Let us know in the comments below.
