Gold Coast Titans centre Joseph Tomane is being targeted to switch codes, with Super rugby franchise the Brumbies confirming an interest in the off-contract youngster.
The 21-year-old returns to the starting 17 against the Dragons tonight for just his second NRL appearance this season.
Considered a future superstar when he joined the club from the Melbourne Storm last year, Tomane has struggled to cement a spot in first grade due to both injury and form, the Gold Coast Bulletin reports.
An Australian Schoolboys rugby union sensation, Tomane was at the centre of a cross-code tug-of-war back in 2007 when the Nudgee College product agreed to a scholarship with Melbourne and then tried to back out.
Brumbies spokesman Elliott Woods yesterday said the club had held talks with Tomane but dismissed reports a code jump was imminent.
