Under siege Gold Coast Titans boss Michael Searle has landed a telling blow on detractors of his administration by landing the prized signature of Queensland State of Origin giant Dave Taylor on a $2 million four-year deal.
Centre Jamal Idris was the hot property on the open market last year and the Titans pounced to get him from the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs and now they’ve beaten the North Queensland Cowboys to wrestle Taylor away from Russell Crowe’s South Sydney Rabbitohs.
Taylor’s deal is for two years plus a two-year option with the 23-year-old Blackwater junior keen to move home to Queensland with his wife Ashlee and young daughters’ Macie and Aliah.
“I appreciate the patience the Club has shown, allowing me to make the choice that was best for me,” said Taylor in a statement .
“It has been a difficult decision, but one I have made with my family in mind.”
