The Titans are likely to scale back their search for a strike centre for this season with the club nearing completion on a deal with England international Dan Sarginson for two years from 2017.

The Gold Coast have been in negotiations with the centre’s management since last month but it’s understood a formal deal has been put on hold until after Wigan’s Super League clash against St Helens held overnight Australian time.

It’s likely a deal will be completed early next week, with the 22-year-old keen to test himself in the NRL.

Sarginson’s likely signature will give the Titans the strike centre they have been craving, while the recent development of young guns Nathan Davis and John Olive has taken the urgency out of the search for a three-quarter for this year.
