Inspirational backrower Sam Thaiday plans to become a Brisbane Bronco for life after agreeing to a deal that will make him one of the highest-paid forwards in the NRL.
The Broncos have staved off raids from rival clubs by handing Thaiday a 12-month extension worth an estimated $380,000.
The retention of Thaiday until the end of next year has helped stabilise the Broncos, who were last week rocked by Greg Inglis’s decision to renege on a two-year contract and sign a three-year deal with South Sydney.
Thaiday, who emerged as the No.1 backrower in the NRL this year, is off contract at the end of next season and could have named his price on the open market.
Broncos boss Bruno Cullen said the club was thrilled to retain Thaiday after his magnificent 2010 campaign.
