The Melbourne Storm has approached emerging prop Jesse Bromwich about remaining at the club for the long term.
The Storm is also in talks with former Test back-rower Ryan Hoffman, a former Wests Tigers junior, about returning from Wigan next year after he was forced out of the club at the end of last season by the salary-cap scandal.
Bromwich, 22, played his first game for the Storm in last year’s World Club Challenge against Leeds, and went on to play seven NRL games as his body developed. Storm football operations manager Frank Ponissi said: ”We’re certainly extremely keen to extend that past 2012. I’ve already had discussions with his manager and at the moment we’re just finalising the 2012 roster but as they get finalised we’ll definitely look at keeping him past 2012.”
Ponissi said Bromwich, who has a supporter in New Zealand Test coach Stephen Kearney, would be pushing hard for a berth in the Kiwi team next year.
