The NRL futures of Ben Hampton and Shaun Nona are in limbo, with Melbourne’s poaching raid on another young half threatening to negatively impact the Far North pair.

Broncos star Jayden Niko­rima is in the sights of Storm boss Craig Bellamy, and it’s understood releasing Mareeba’s Hampton and Tully’s Nona is being considered to ease salary cap constraints.

Rated a future NRL star by Broncos legend Darren Lockyer, who sits on the club’s ­recruitment and retention committee, Nikorima has attracted a three-year, $600,000 offer from the Roosters.

But the Storm’s readiness to release fringe halves Hampton and Nona to clear salary-cap space could ultimately snare Nikorima.
