The Manly Sea Eagles somehow recorded a robust win over rivals St George Illawarra on Monday night — just two hours after reports emerged that three star players were sensationally seeking releases.

Anger over the treatment of Glenn Stewart, who was offloaded to the South Sydney Rabbitohs, has prompted three senior representative players to reportedly seek releases — Brett Stewart, Steve Matai and Anthony Watmough.

It comes as the playing futures of halves Daly Cherry-Evans and Kieran Foran at Brookvale remain clouded.

Despite the obvious factions at Brookvale, the playing squad somehow remains resilient and mentally strong, which was evident yet again on Monday night.
