Jeff Robson

Cronulla coach Shane Flanagan has tabled a contract extension for his “favourite player” Jeff Robson despite questions hanging about the veteran half-back’s place in the squad next year.

As Robson prepares to guide the Sharks around the park in the side’s semi-final against North Queensland on Saturday night, his future remains heavily clouded.

New recruits James Maloney and Chad Townsend, as well as the presence of 20-year-old star Jack Bird, will force Robson out of the Sharks’ top 17 next year.

The Warriors have reportedly launched a last-minute bid to bring him across the ditch as a replacement for Townsend, but Flanagan admits having a soft spot for him and has expressed his desire to hang on to the veteran.
