Exciting young hooker Manaia Cherrington has signed on to play for the Sharks in 2017.

A member of the New Zealand squad for the 2015 Four Nations tournament, the 21-year-old Cherrington has agreed to a one-year deal.

Currently at the Tigers, Cherrington is an explosive dummy half runner and with the retirement of Michael Ennis has the perfect opportunity to establish himself in the top grade at the Sharks next season.

After putting pen to paper on a contract, Cherrington expressed his excitement about joining the Sharks next year.

“The boys here at the Sharks are going really well, it’s exciting times and I can’t wait to be a part of it,” Cherrington said.

  1. This young guy is a great signing, exactly what the sharks need for 2017, an explosive hooker that will guide the team around the park, as Ennis is going to be a huge loss. the sharks are really making some moves within the players market at the moment, hopefully we can finish off this year on a high too

  2. Another very good signing. The sharks roster goes from strength to strength. The turnaround under Gorman has been great for the club, the shire and the fans. Not so good for the obsessed haters eh Ronald? Lets hope we can cap off a fantastic year and finally bring it all home. Go Sharks!!!!

    • Yes we do but he is a couple of years away his name is Jayden Brailey a future gun just needs more size and a bit more experience!

  3. The only criticism off flannagan I’ve ever had is he signs old players and we lose our youth .. Would still loved to off seen townsend with Carney few years ago instead off Robson…. And peachey still with us etc…hopefully jayden waits patiently

    • I have the same view I’d currently prefer to have Gagan on the wing as opposed to Feki.
I think the problem previously with the players you mentioned was the joint was a mess at least now we have our affairs in order

  4. If i was Sharks recruitment would release Beale if anybody and play Leutele in the centres and have Gagan as the back up!

  5. Yer see sharkietown I’d have Beale like the way he releases the ball early fir feki..think maybe bird in lock next year personally I don’t rate him in the halves I know he won rookie there but just don’t think he has the kicking game etc..Holmes should definitely be fullback in a few years

    • I think bird will make a good forward.
I like Feki don’t get me wrong, his attack is good his defense however is a weakness watch how many times he is caught out of position.
He’s also suspect under the high ball.

  6. Paulo is in again just don’t know about him think I’d rather Capwell liked his running game against Penrith…
