The Cronulla Sharks have confirmed the immediate release of David Fifita so he pursue an opportunity with another club.

Read the club statement below:

Our Club can today announce that a release has been granted to David Fifita for him to pursue an opportunity with the Wakefield Trinity Wildcats in the UK Super League.

David had been given three weeks leave to address some personal issues and after visiting the UK, and discussions and negotiations with the Wakefield Club, had made a request for a release.

After careful consideration we have made the decision to provide the release and wish him well in his future endeavours.

The twin brother of Sharks and NSW prop Andrew, David has played 19 NRL matches since debuting for the Cronulla Club in 2014, including two games during the 2016 season.

  1. I actually prefer him to Andrew. Andrew has XFactor all over him but there is a big gap between his best and worst and he give a lot of stupid penalties. Where as Dave is more of a traditional prop, runs hard tackles hard his best and worst games very similar so I hope Brisbane open up old Andrew gees check book here

  2. I love watching Fifita boys play. Andrew would of been my first pick for Origin over the past few years …BUT they get a little sulky when things don’t go there way?

    1. Andrew’s Contract Bungle with Bulldogs
    2. Ballboy Fiasco
    3. And now that David hasn’t been able to crack the 17, he’ off
