The Manly Sea Eagles have bolstered their forward stocks for next season with the signing of three regular NRL first-graders.
The trio will join their new Sea Eagles teammates for pre-season training in early November.
Mason, a former Origin and Test front-rower, has made 271 NRL appearances since debuting in 2000, representing his state and country along the way.
The 34-year-old joins the Sea Eagles on a one-year deal after a three-year stint with the Newcastle Knights.
“I’m excited to be joining the Sea Eagles. It’s a highly-respected club with a history of success,” Mason said.
“Everyone talks about the culture here and the winning mentality, so I’mlooking forward to being a part of that next season.
“This is my fifth NRL club now and I’ve done pre-seasons at other clubs but I really want to show Geoff [Toovey] and the coaching staff that I’m ready to rip in from the get go.”
Mateo joins the Sea Eagles after making 183 appearances for the Eels and Warriors. He has agreed to terms on a two-year deal.
Vave has played 55 first grade games for Cronulla and Melbourne since making his NRL debut in 2010, as well as appearing internationally for Tonga.
Sea Eagles Recruitment Manager Dave Warwick said his 188cm height and 115kg build will go part of the way to help soften the impact of losing several key forwards.
“Siosaia will provide a bit more power in our front row stocks as far as punch into the line is concerned. Given he’s only 25 years old, we think he’s got a promising future here at the Sea Eagles,” Warwick said.
“There’s been a lot said about our front row stocks of late. We’ve got good front rowers, so all we are doing is providing more depth to that playing squad.”
In other positive news for the club we are delighted to announce that captain Jamie Lyon will be seeing his career out at the Sea Eagles, signing a three-year extension to remain at the club until 2016.
