Geoff Toovey is expected to remain on as Manly coach until the end of the season after a meeting on Monday to finalise the details of his departure before Trent Barrett takes over in 2016.
The Sea Eagles are expected to confirm one of the NRL’s worst-kept secrets on Tuesday by announcing the sacking of Toovey with another season to run on his contract.
Toovey last week said he hadn’t been consulted about the changes to the roster for next season, indicating that Barrett was already making decisions behind the scenes.
It is understood Toovey attended a meeting with Manly officials late on Monday to discuss his future. Fairfax Media was told the Sea Eagles want Toovey to stay on for the remainder of the season.
