The Manly Sea Eagles have hatched a plan to get square with arch-rivals the Sydney Roosters by luring Kiwi hardman Jared Waerea-Hargreaves back to the northern peninsula.

Manly coach Des Hasler was fuming when the Roosters poached Waerea-Hargreaves at the end of 2009 and the Eagles are aiming to return the favour.

Waerea-Hargreaves was a standout last season but has struggled to find rhythm as coach Brian Smith uses him off the bench. A return to the Sea Eagles for 2013 could see Waerea-Hargreaves re-emerge as one of the most damaging forwards in the NRL.
