From Queensland Cup unknown last year to $1 million NRL star. That is the road taken by Manly’s Daly Cherry-Evans.
The Dally M rookie of the year is about to reject an offer from the Brisbane Broncos and agree to a rich $1 million deal to stay at Brookvale.
The Daily Telegraph can reveal Manly have opened negotiations to upgrade the contract of Cherry-Evans, 21, for the next two seasons before extending his deal for a further two years.
It is hoped Cherry-Evans will agree to the new terms within the next fortnight.
With five-eighth Kieran Foran under contract for another three seasons, future success at Brookvale is all but assured.
It is understood Brisbane wanted Cherry-Evans to be their long-term halfback, while Manly believe the Sydney Roosters were pursuing him as well.
