Timana Tahu has been training alone in a backyard gymnasium in suburban Newcastle since the Parramatta Eels rejected the 30-year-old’s request for additional time off in the pre-season and went on to release him from his contract.

The latest team to be considering Tahu could very well be the Penrith Panthers after Tahu was spotted checking out the facilities over the weekend.

If the Panthers were to sign Tahu, he would form a very strong back line alongside speedster Michael Jennings, young fullback Lachlan Coote and breakout player of last season, Michael Gordon.

Tahu has been linked with the Newcastle Knights and Cronulla Sharks but both shut the door on a possible return to the NRL, leaving him at a crossroads. More recently he’s believed to have received an offer from an English Super League club but it remains to be seen if he wants to move overseas.
