Wests Tigers halfback Robert Lui is rumoured to be released in coming weeks and to join the North Queensland Cowboys in 2012.
Lui was recently charged with assaulting his girlfriend, nearly a year to the day after being charged with a similar incident. It’s understood senior Tigers players are fed up with his off-field behaviour and want him shown the door, despite having a year to run on his contract.
A move back to Queensland might be Lui’s best shot at playing NRL football next year.
Meanwhile, in the wake of the rumour that Lui might be leaving, recent St George Illawarra Dragons signing, Tim Moltzen, is rumoured to want out of his new contract and to stay with the Tigers.
If Lui is released, the Tigers would need a new starting halfback and Moltzen would fit the bill perfectly, playing alongside good mate Benji Marshall.
