It was rumoured last week by Zero Tackle that the Parramatta Eels had signed Beau Champion to a 3 year deal.
After the rumour became public, sportsnewsfirst.com.au made enquiries to Eels CEO Paul Osborne about the deal and were told “There’s been no negotiation with Beau Champion.”
Despite those statements from Osborne, the rumour refuses to die with the latest reports suggested Champion will be signing for $300K a year for the 3 years.
If the NRL fails to agree to the Greg Inglis deal as is, then releasing Champion to the Eels could be the South Sydney Rabbitohs only move to snare the star Test centre. If the Rabbitohs release Champion, his rumoured $150K salary for 2010 could be used to top up the Inglis deal and get approval from salary cap auditor Ian Schubert.
