The recent signing of Chris Sandow by the Parramatta Eels seems to be only the tip of the iceberg. Rumours are swirling that the Eels have now signed Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs five-eighth Ben Roberts.
Roberts has only played one game of NRL this season with new halves pairing Kris Keating and Trent Hodkinson getting the nod over the former Kiwi Test player.
Roberts has been rumoured to be seeking a released from his Bulldogs contract this season and was heavily linked to the Cronulla Sharks and Gold Coast Titans earlier this year.
If the Roberts to the Eels rumour is true, it remains to be seen if he’d be in the starting squad. New recruit Sandow will obviously be the halfback but the Eels have invested a lot of time and money into young Daniel Mortimer and would no doubt be reluctant to give up on him yet.
The Eels also plan to sit down soon and start talks with Joel Reddy, the centre on the radar of a few rival outfits. The talk around town is Reddy may pop up at the Bulldogs next season and play alongside bro-in-law Bryson Goodwin.
