Braith Anasta has signed a two-year contract extension at Sydney Roosters, the club announced at their season launch on Monday night.

Anasta’s future has been the subject of speculation over the off-season, but the club has put an end to all the talk by confirming the news before the season kick-off.

Anasta, a South Sydney Rabbitohs junior who won a premiership with Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs in 2004, says he was desperate to re-sign because of the possibility of captaining a club to an NRL premiership.

Anasta was named Dally M captain of the year in 2010 for his inspirational performances in pushing the Roosters into last year’s grand final against St George Illawarra.
