The worst-kept secret in the NRL right now is that Sonny Bill Williams has sealed the deal with the Sydney Roosters.
As far as players and officials at the glamour club are concerned, it isn’t a matter of “if” but “when”.
Indeed, Matty Johns echoed a growing belief that Williams has been signed, sealed and all but delivered when he declared on Triple M yesterday morning: “From what I hear 100 per cent he’ll be at the Roosters; there is only the details about his boxing career to sort out.”
Asked to comment on Johns’ remarks, Roosters chief executive Steve Noyce said: “There’s a lot of speculation about Sonny’s future.”
Pressed on whether a deal had been done or not, Noyce refused to buy into further discussion.
