The Bulldogs have signed Penrith hooker Sione Katoa in the wake of Api Koroisau heading to the Panthers, according to WWOS.

Katoa played 48 games for the Panthers after debuting in 2015. The Penrith club came up with an offer but were beaten to the punch by a Canterbury side searching depth at the position.

The Tongan international will add strength and competition at dummy-half, where the Bulldog’s struggled in 2019. Michael Lichaa started the season packing down in the middle but is not expected to be retained by the club.

Katoa will battle out for the number nine jersey with Jeremy Marshall-King, Benji Marshall’s brother, who was a bright spark in the Bulldogs end-of-season lift.

The Doggies also put pen to paper with Dean Britt, who played eleven games for Souths in the second half of 2019, as well as Joe Stimson who came off the bench for the Storm this year.

  1. Everyone wants out of the Chocolate Soldiers. Maybe its time to replace the hierarchy. Whatever is going on the players aren’t happy. What a dump of a club.

JWH should refrain from entertaining any thoughts of departing the World Champion Sydney Roosters and current Premiers for that dud team.
Toss up between Souths, GC, Saints and Penrith, who is the worst run organisation.

  2. Oh William77, I gather that you’re a Parra supporter? Well your team spanked the Broncos, and without a doubt your team will be spanked by the Storm. Yes the Panthers missed the finals this year, the first time since ’15,. You should be grateful, as your team are getting our rejects. Can’t your team develop your own talent?

  3. Team hoping to rebound hahaha what do they do go out and get 3 players who struggle to make the bench at their current clubs.

Bulldogs are one of the worst organised teams in the NRL. They need to do a complete rebuild. Instead of signing reserves and trying to get big names go for young guns.

Euan Aiken would be good for them, he almost made SOO a couple years back and is 24.
Enari Tuala is a young centre, only 20. He played junior Maroons and also junior Kangaroos, he doesnt have a team for next year.
Nat Butcher is only 22 he could do with more minutes, he was a former Aussie Schoolboy, and junior NSW blue and won the NYC comp.
Herman Ese’ese is 25 but was a former Bulldogs will add good size and power from the bench.
Ryan Matterson has just come available it seems, he’s a great player only 24 and was born in Greenacre which is in Canterbury-Bankstown.

These are they guys they should be going for, particularly Matterson and Aiken if they want to rebound back quickly. Just the over day I heard they were going to Leilua at 600k and he’s 28. Matterson is worth that money, will give you a lot more than Joey and is a local that the fans can get behind.

Let Adam Elliot, RFM, Montoya, Sue and Olive leave and try get rid of Foran. Bring in Aiken, Tuala, Matterson, Butcher and Ese’ese.

  4. Souths have released 9 of their Duds, keep away from all of them, Souths only buy Duds so if they release Duds, then they are top shelf Duds.

  5. Panthers, William77 is the infamous Woody masquerading as a Canberra supporter. Quite sad actually, this muppet has zero pride #16thwoodyloginfor2019

  6. He started out as a “Canberra” supporter but he’s started slipping into old habits coz the muppet is too stupid…. The old roosters cheering, Souths bashing and now “chocolate soldiers” talk… Has Woodys fingerprints all over it!!

  7. Dont listen to that Mary13, I live in Albury and go for Canberra, who’s this woody guy anyway? Certainly not I.

I have been reading other peoples comments and been very amused at the Souths and Sydney rivalry, thought I would jump in with a bit of stirring also, those Souths fans are very sensitive.

As for the Chocolate Soldiers, every person who has lived prior to Penrirh’s change of colours and jersey have always known Penrirh as the Chocolate Soldiers.

Being a Raiders fan just gives me a bit more motivation to stir the Licorice Allsort/Chocolate Soldiers. We have not forgotten the 1991 Grand Final loss.

  8. WillyWonka is Woodhead! So don’t worry too much about him. He’s always around to put the boot in anywhere he can & go on & on & on about nothing much.
Katoa is a worse hooker than Lichaa, that Dogs don’t want? Lichaa has a running game & Katoa has none.
Maybe the club is coming to buy some poultry WoodRot?

  9. Ryan Matterson is perfect for the Doggies. Straight swap Adam Elliot and Fa Brown for Matterson.
Ryan was born in Cantabury-Bankstown, is skilled enough to take over the lock position and let CHN and Josh Jackson play the edges. With Napa and Tolman also I’m the middle all of a sudden the dogs have a good pack. They just need a good spine (hookers and halves) which they don’t have. Maybe they can pinch Nathan Peats from the titans, we was a former NSW player and is a good tackler
