Samoan Test prop James Gavet is reportedly seeking a move off-shore for a big money sum to finish his career. The 29-year-old is looking to secure his future despite a year left on his deal with the Knights.

Newcastle has lost seven of their past eight games and are as close to finals as they are to 15th on the ladder, so retaining the services of Gavet is crucial for the near future.

Local media and Gavet are set to deny the claims however The Mole is reporting English clubs have been made aware of Gavet's situation and can offer more money and security as the player stretches into his 30s.

Fellow prop Herman Ese'ese is set to leave the club and with Newcastle in disarray on the field losing another highly rated talent would be costly.

Having not appeared in the finals since 2013 and having not won the NRL premiership since 2001, the Knights are desperate to find and maintain the winning formula.

Only time will tell with where Gavet ends up, but when the poms are sniffing around there is always trouble.
