Glen Buttriss
Two-year extension

The Canberra Raiders have re-signed hooker Glen Buttriss for another two NRL seasons.

The Raiders will announce Buttriss’s new deal at a press conference at 2pm today.

It had been unclear whether the Raiders would be able to keep Buttriss in the capital and it was feared salary cap pressure would force the 25-year-old to continue his career at another club.

But Canberra was desperate to hold on to the back-up rake.

Captain Alan Tongue is currently David Furner’s first-choice No9 with Buttriss starting on the bench.

The Raiders also have Travis Waddell on their roster as well as under-20s star Matt McIlwrick.

Buttriss has played 18 games this since and made his first-grade debut in 2008.
