Penrith Panthers boss Phil Gould has given evergreen prop Petero Civoniceva what he couldn’t get from the Brisbane Broncos: the promise of a footballing home for life.
Gould has declared Civoniceva has a job for life at the Panthers.
“As far as I’m concerned, Petero has a job for life at Penrith as a player and an ambassador to the game,” Gould said.
Civoniceva said: “We are entering an exciting time here at the club and it is my intention to continue to lead Penrith by example.
“My main focus at the moment is getting the job done against the Eels on Saturday night.”
The rumour mill had been suggesting that Civoniceva was unhappy with Gould over the signing of new coach Ivan Cleary for next season.
