NRL Fantasy 2014 Changes

Today, the NRL Lone Scout broke the news that fantasy NRL coaches have been waiting for – Fantasy NRL is back on the 24th of January. This year’s competition looks to be bigger and better than ever, with changes being made to the scoring system, greater integration with the NRL being promised and a slew of overall changes being made to the way we play and control leagues.

Scoring System

It appears as though the scoring system has mostly remained intact from last season, however, there are a few changes that are coming into fruition come January 24. The addition of “Try Saving Tackles” (five points) and “Defusing Kicks” (one point) into the scoring repertoire will be interesting, considering they favour fullbacks and wingers heavily. It is also important to the note the omission of one on one tackles, ineffective tackles and the reduction of an error from three points to two.

The “Captaincy Loophole” has also been shut for good, with users now having to lock in their Captain and Vice Captain selections prior to lockout. Coaches now also have the ability to utilize dual position players to the best of their utility, with unlimited changes being able to be made to your squad when a dual position player is involved. It is also being reported that players can be allocated a second position throughout the season, depending on where they are actually playing for their club.
