Anthony Watmough

Fed-upĀ Manly Sea Eagles officials are poised to withdraw a $1.2 million contract extension offer to Anthony Watmough, who has been at the centre of unprecedented player unrest this week at Brookvale.

In a move that could trigger an irreparable rift between Watmough and front office, the Sea Eagles now feel they have little option but to abandon negotiations with the disgruntled NSW Origin back-rower.

While Watmough is aggrieved about teammate and good friend Glenn Stewart being allowed to leave, his most acute sense of injustice relates to the terms of the two-year extension that Manly tabled several weeks ago.

Watmough wants a deal that will see-out his career at Brookvale, which the 31-year-old believes can continue for another three seasons.
