Sharks backrower Luke Lewis has taken the early guilty plea after being charged for a tackle gone wrong in the win over the Titans on Sunday.

Lewis came under the scrutiny of the match review panel for a tackle on former Shark Luke Douglas in the 31st minute of the Titans clash and was subsequently handed a 240 point penalty for a shoulder charge.

In accepting the early plea that point penalty is reduced to 180, meaning Lewis will miss just one match and have 80 carry over points.

Should he have decided to challenge at a judiciary hearing and failed in his bid to have the charge dismissed, Lewis would have been suspended for two games.
