Canberra Raiders enforcer Tom Learoyd-Lahrs is set to join Bronson Harrison in pledging his long-term allegiance to the club before next weekend’s season-opener against Cronulla.
Canberra boss Don Furner and Learoyd-Lahrs’s manager Darryl Mather have been locked in negotiations to broker a deal to keep the Kangaroos prop in the capital.
Contract talks were the furthest thing from the 25-year-old’s mind yesterday, as he was out fishing.
But he remained optimistic a deal would be struck before he ran on to Canberra Stadium to play the Cronulla Sharks next Sunday.
Learoyd-Lahrs was adamant he wanted to stay, and could see himself playing out the rest of his career in lime green.
