Tireless Newcastle Knights utility forward Matt Hilder has signed a new two-year deal with the club.
The Knights will announce his signing later today.
While the futures of several current players are up in the air, incoming coach Wayne Bennett made it clear as soon as he took the job he wanted Hilder on board in 2011.
“Wayne was very keen to sign him and Matt is just as keen to play under Wayne,” Hilder’s manager Wayne Beavis said. “It’s a good deal for everyone.’’
Meanwhile, it’s understood the Knights are close to securing born-again centre Wes Naiqama to a new deal as well, just a day after Dragons and Queensland Origin star Darius Boyd signed with the club for four seasons.
