Jarrod Mullen
Knight for life

Newcastle Knights playmaker Jarrod Mullen has agreed to terms on a new three-year contract, keeping him in Newcastle colours until the end of 2014.

Mullen, who former captain Andrew Johns once anointed as his heir apparent, was already secured until the end of 2011 but the new deal will extend that tenure to a 13th year.

Singleton-born Mullen was 14 when he joined the Knights from Taree at the beginning of 2002, and was 18 when he made the first of his 100 NRL appearances three years later.

The Knights hope to secure the signatures of other high-profile players coming off-contract at the end of next season including Kurt Gidley, New Zealand Test centre Junior Sa’u, hooker Isaac De Gois and reigning Player of the Year Matt Hilder.
