Utility forward Jamie Buhrer has signed a three-year extension with the Manly Sea Eagles, ensuring his immediate NRL future.
After making just 5 appearances in 2010, the 21 year old had a break out season for the Sea Eagles this year. Buhrer made 26 appearances in 2011, predominantly from the bench, which was enough to ensure a new contract at the club.
Buhrer’s parents, die-hard Manly fans, thought all their Christmases had come at once when they watched their boy Jamie play 10 minutes in the second half from the stands with a 30-strong Buhrer clan.
“He said it was the best 10 minutes of his life,” Mr Buhrer said.
Mr Buhrer, who has been to Manly’s past 12 grand final appearances, said it was great to see his son, a utility forward, briefly replace Steve Matai in the centres.
“It was unreal, really good,” he said.
