Ex-Test prop Kade Snowden faces an uncertain future and appears unlikely to return for Newcastle any time soon.

Snowden has not played since the round-one loss to Gold Coast as he struggles to overcome disc problems in his neck and back.

He is understood to be hoping to avoid surgery that would probably end his season – and could perhaps be career-threatening.

“He’s got a number of niggling issues, which is limiting his training ability at the moment,’’ Knights coach Nathan Brown said on Wednesday.
