The Gold Coast Titans have confirmed the signing of Canterbury superstar Jamal Idris for the next five NRL seasons.

The barnstorming centre rejected deals from the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs and the cashed-up Newcastle Knights, who on Tuesday announced they had snared supercoach Wayne Bennett on a four-year deal.

The Titans offer, believed to be in the region of $1.8 million, also includes plans for a television program starring Idris and an indigenous ambassadorial role.
