Wests Tigers chief executive Stephen Humphreys is optimistic prop Bryce Gibbs will remain with the club for the 2012 NRL season.
Gibbs extended his contract until the end of 2014 in February, but recent speculation had suggested he was keen to make a move.
The Tigers were allowing him to have contract talks with other clubs, but Humphreys suggested the 26-year-old was yet to decide if he wanted out.
“We’ve given permission to Bryce’s manager to have a chat to a couple of clubs, which was a request that came from him,” Humphreys said.
“There are no strong moves from him (Gibbs). I think there was some interest in him, so they did the right thing and spoke to us about it.
“Bryce has been a great servant of our club, so if there was something he wanted to pursue, then we wouldn’t want to get in the way of that.
“But he is also a great club man, so I’m not sure how that one will play out.”
