Hull KR coach Chris Chester admits he wants to do all he can to tie-down prized asset Albert Kelly, as well as the main spine of his Robins side.
Half-back Kelly returns to England over the weekend to begin pre-season training on Monday, having committed himself to KR’s cause for 2016 despite strong interest from the NRL hovering.
The 24-year-old, who has ambitions to return to Australia later in his career, was subject to reports Down Under linking him with the Manly Sea Eagles.
However, those rumours were quashed when he decided to stay with Rovers for next season, coinciding with team-mate Maurice Blair’s similar commitment.
And now, Chester is keen to extend the contract of Kelly, and several other KR stars, at some stage this year, with Kelly’s deal in particular expiring in under 12 months time.
