Des Hasler
Takes up option

In a week that has seen NRL head coaches changing posts, Des Hasler has bucked the trend, deciding to stay on with the Manly Sea Eagles past 2011.

Hasler has taken up an option to remain at the helm in 2012, having stalled on activating the option for several months prior.

There had been speculation that Hasler could end up at the Penrith Panthers, the club with which he began his playing career, but no sooner had that position fallen to Ivan Cleary then the 2008 premiership coach shored up his future on the northern beaches.

The Manly board also recently voted in favour of offering Hasler a two-year extension, a contract that would make him the first coach in the club’s history to hold office for ten consecutive seasons.
