Fresh off a rare hat-trick of victories, the Cronulla Sharks are set to reward coach Shane Flanagan with an upgraded deal tying him to the club for at least two more seasons.
Sharks chairman Damian Irvine has told Sportal he will meet again with Flanagan in coming days to put the finishing touches to a new contract.
Cronulla were always keen to re-sign their under-rated coach but understandably wanted to see some results on the board early in the season.
“We’ve been committed for a several months to extending Shane’s contract,” Irvine said on Sunday.
“Those talks will continue. We see him as the right coach for our club.”
Flanagan confirmed he has been in discussion with Irvine but isn’t pressuring the club into fast-tracking negotiations.
